DESIGN PRINCIPLE
In the second assignment, students are required to group into five to six person in a group. Each students are to extract patterns from their previous assignment to further develop their mockup models in this assignment while applying design principles which are balance, rhythm, emphasis, movement, variety, contrast, unity and hierarchy. Moreover, each students in the group must choose one different design principle and produce two 10cm(L)x10cm(W)x10cm(H) mockup models in order to combine group members's mockup models together to produce a perimeter of 50cm(L)x50cm(W)x50cm(H)hybrid final model. Students also are able to explore materiality so as experimenting on heights, planes, voids and space. Furthermore, students are also required to produce one A2 size of presentation board with 1:1 plan or elevation drawings, conceptual design idea, design development process, mockup models so as sketches and diagrams for better understanding and also upload their compilation of weekly progress.
INDIVIDUAL MOCKUP MODELS
Our group decided to choose balance, rhythm, emphasis, movement, contrast and unity as our design principle. For me, I have chose rhythm as my design principle to further develop my models. I have extracted patterns in the first assignment, triangular and to come out with a concept, "flipping book" to show the rhythmic pattern. Our tutor also suggested me to try out strings in order to showcase the "flipping book" concept in my mockup model two.
GROUP WORK- HYBRID FINAL MODEL
During the final model, we had combined our mockup models together to create the final hybrid model. In the meantime, we also faced challenges but still we managed to complete it with the guidance of our tutor. Last but not least, we had also came out with the name, Conspicuous Castaway.
