P2A- RE-IMAGINING PUBLIC SPACE
Third assignment, 'Re-Imagining Public Space' which is a group assignment consists of four group members. Due to threatening pandemic Covid-19, our lecturer came out with this assignment on intervening the space for public to utilize the space during post-covid. Students were to choose one public space for case study purposes and also a public space in Taylor's Lakeside campus. Students were also assigned to construct ideas to improve or upgrade the public space. The objectives of this assignment is to let students to understand the relationship between built environment and the user and to widen students knowledge on built environment.
Our tutor assigned this assignment as our last assignment due to this assignment was a short assignment compared to the other assignment, P2B. My previous teammates and I decided to remain as a group. We started our project by choosing The Lawn On D Boston, Massachusetts, USA as our case study for public space, and amphitheatre in Taylor's Lakeside campus as our public space intervention. We gather as much informations as we can on the websites. Furthermore, we also came out with various ideas on intervention in the amphitheatre. In our third and fourth group discussion, we had came to finalise our assignment by improving our assignments from tutor's feedbacks. One of our feedback from our tutor was zoning map was too small. Therefore, we have changed it.
We came out with one of the idea, 'stacking chairs' in Taylor's Lakeside Campus - amphitheatre for Taylor's students and staff to enjoy watching performances.
